We found this wonderful article from Plenish on  Why the future is Plant based. The article suggests that proteins do grow on trees, we will be hormone free and won't miss calcium. The meat and dairy industries are responsible for 51% of the world’s greenhouse gases. We’re not saying you have to go vegan warrior overnight, just take small steps in the right direction. Eat more plants and less processed junk. Switch your dairy-milk with our plant-fuelled ones. Small actions can have a big impact. And if you’ve got this far, you’re already off to a great start.

One in five people who die from cancer have an overweight or obese  body mass index . But, exactly how weight affects cancer risk is unclear. Excess weight increases your risk by 50 percent for endometrial cancer and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Also, a higher number of postmenopausal women who are overweight develop breast cancer. Weight in the belly area is most closely connected with an increased risk of certain cancers. But, obesity is associated with cancer of the following ten body parts:

  • Colon
  • Gallbladder
  • Kidney
  • Liver
  • Ovaries
  • Pancreas
  • Prostate
  • Rectum
  • Thyroid
  • Uterus
There are a few ways to reduce the cancer, below are some of the tips-
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Limit calorie dense and nutrient deficient foods- These foods include: sugar-sweetened beverages, processed snack foods and desserts.  Calories add up fast with these sorts of calorie-dense foods, which can lead to weight gain and leave little room for more healthful, cancer-preventive foods.
  • Eat more vegetables and fruits. Eating plenty of whole plant foods is linked with a lower risk of lung, oral, esophageal, stomach and colon cancer. At this point, it's not clear which components in vegetables and fruits are most protective against cancer. So enjoy a variety of whole foods naturally-rich in nutrients
  • Moderate your meat portions- Some studies suggest a link between colon cancer and eating large amounts of red meat. This is especially true for processed meat such as ham, bacon and hot dogs. Your best bet is to enjoy animal protein in moderation
  • Focus on plant proteins-  Eating more plant protein than animal protein is associated with a lower risk of many types of cancers.

Sticking to a low glycemic diet helps a heap load in regaining and maintaining health, no matter what the chronic or acute health challenge may be- whether type two diabetes or a common cold. It is also a deliciously easy way to maintain weight (or even drop a few extra that have been jiggling about). Eating low-glycemic is a health building way to eat and if we are eating and living to build our health, we can't also be building diseases. It just doesn't work that way. And aside from the horrificness of sudden chemical exposures, weaknesses from birth etc., cancer, for the most part, is a slow-growing, built disease.
What we do know, and what we believe  is widely accepted, is that sugar feeds cancer. Highly sugary foods, for the most part, swing to the high glycemic index end of the scale. Therefore, scientific study or not, it is not much of a stretch to say that low glycemic foods, and an overall lower glycemic load of our diet, will not feed any such badness that may be growing within us and instead help to build up our big strong immune systems.
